JGC Arabia Awards ZHI Contract for 52 Clad Heat Exchangers for Zuluf Project

November 17, 2022

JGC Arabia has awarded AlZamil Heavy Industries (ZHI) a significant contract to design and manufacture 52 clad heat exchangers for the Zuluf project, owned by Saudi Aramco. This key project encompasses the production of 28 wet/dry crude heat exchangers, 20 crude trim heat exchangers, and 4 wash water preheaters, each designed to optimize the processing capabilities at the Zuluf oil field, one of Saudi Aramco’s major offshore oil fields.

Enhancing Zuluf’s Operational Efficiency

The variety of heat exchangers included in this project are crucial for enhancing the operational efficiency and reliability of the Zuluf field. The wet/dry crude heat exchangers are essential for managing thermal stresses and optimizing the separation process of crude oil. The crude trim heat exchangers are used to precisely control the temperature of crude oil in preparation for downstream processing, improving efficiency and safety. The wash water preheaters are designed to increase the temperature of water used in cleaning processes, thereby reducing energy consumption and operational costs.

Advanced Clad Fabrication Technology

ZHI’s role in utilizing advanced clad fabrication technology is pivotal in this project. This manufacturing technique, which involves bonding dissimilar metals, significantly enhances the corrosion resistance and durability of the heat exchangers, making them ideal for the challenging marine environment of the Zuluf field.

Strengthening Partnerships in the Energy Sector

This contract award from JGC Arabia underscores the strong industry confidence in ZHI’s manufacturing excellence and its capability to deliver high-quality, complex industrial products. “We are proud to partner with JGC Arabia in this crucial project for Saudi Aramco’s Zuluf field, demonstrating our commitment to delivering technical excellence and innovation,” said a spokesperson for ZHI.

Commitment to Sustainable Practices

ZHI’s production of these heat exchangers will adhere to the highest standards of sustainability, employing environmentally responsible practices that align with Saudi Aramco’s and JGC Arabia’s sustainability objectives. These practices include optimizing resource use, minimizing waste, and reducing the overall environmental footprint of manufacturing operations.

Anticipating Future Collaborative Success

As work progresses on these heat exchangers, ZHI looks forward to further enhancing its collaborative relationship with JGC Arabia and Saudi Aramco, anticipating continued opportunities to contribute to the region’s energy infrastructure with cutting-edge technological solutions.
This contract not only reinforces ZHI’s role as a key supplier in the oil and gas sector but also marks a significant milestone in its ongoing support of Saudi Aramco’s strategic objectives, particularly in the crucial Zuluf project, which is pivotal to boosting Saudi Arabia’s oil production capacity.
